Welcome to the Movies!

The Mountain View Film Group is a volunteer group, located in Olds, Alberta, Canada. Our non-profit group shares a passion for independent, Canadian, foreign, and documentary films, which we bring to our dynamic, Central Alberta community--everyone is welcome!  The films are shown one Sunday per month, from September to April, with most films chosen from the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) Film Circuit.

We'd like to thank each of our moviegoers for your support! Your loyal enthusiasm has inspired us to bring a variety of films to Central Alberta for 19 years! Thank you for making each year a success.  It's a pleasure bringing wonderful films to such an appreciative audience.

Location and Time

Schedule: The films are shown monthly, from September to April. Screenings are Sunday mornings at 11:30 a.m. and Sunday afternoons at 3:00 p.m. Doors open one hour before showtime.

Fall 2026 Film Series:

You will do some traveling during our Fall Film Series. The movies will take you to a 1980s Ireland cinema, around the world with a renowned Canadian wildlife artist, to Scotland to learn about a Tourette's activist, and to the U.S. for a dramatic thriller. Please join us. Everyone is welcome!

Genre: Dramatic Comedy - Semi-biographical

Story: In 1980s Ireland, a small-town cinema owner battles disasters, personal turmoil and a packed Friday night crowd. Filmed at the old Royal Cinema in Limerick, Ireland, which has been closed for three decades. It was filmed there because it reminded the director of the cinema his family once owned.

Story: In 1957, Canadian wildlife artist Robert Bateman and biologist Bristol Foster attempt a global expedition in a Land Rover they call “The Grizzly Torque.” Starting in the UK, their travels take them to the far corners of the earth. From the lush rainforests of the Congo to the vibrant landscapes of India, Bob paints the wonders they encounter, while Bristol films on his 16mm Bolex camera. Fifty-seven years later, the Land Rover is rediscovered and their adventure is uncovered.
